After all the rumors and outrage at Konami for making reviewers sign an agreement to not talk about MGS4's cut-scenes and install times. Turns out that this game has the greatest install screen I've ever seen. For any of you Xbox 360 owners who haven't gotten a chance to take a look at it yet, BAM! \/\/\/

According to Joystiq, an ad promoting a yet-to-be-released MTV2 track pack for Harmonix's Rock Band gives away a few of the new jams up for grabs.

These tracks include:

* Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife
* Machine Head - Aesthetics of Hate
* Nine Inch Nails - Burn
* Nirvana - Breed

There's also the matter of the entire "Who's Next" album that has been in the works for months now, but has been delayed or canceled altogether due to theft. Give me Pinball Wizard!

The New York Times is reporting that the "Roadrunner," an American military supercomputer, has reached a long-sought-after benchmark by processing more than 1.026 quadrillion calculations per second. Part of it's insides comes directly out of the Playstation 3.

This (world's fastest?) computer contains 116,640 processor cores, with 12,960 chips that are an improved version of the Cell processor used in the PS3. "The Sony chips are used as accelerators, or turbochargers, for portions of calculations," said the New Work Times

"Roadrunner" takes a lot of power.. like enough to power a large mall, and requires three different programming tools since it has three different kinds of processors. Plus all 116,640 processor cores need to stay occupied at once for it to continue running. What a chore.

Jack Thompson, an anti-gaming attorney representing the families of two police officers and a police dispatcher slain by 18-year-old Grand Theft Auto player Devin Moore, decided to walk out on his own disbarment hearing today before it concluded. This led Dava Tunis, the presiding judge, to recommend an "enhanced disbarment" ruling against him. I'm not sure what that means either, but it must be worse than a "regular old disbarment."

The highlight of the proceedings is Thompson's statement where he called Judge Tunis "incompetent and arrogant" and threatened to have her removed from office "in the days and weeks ahead."

"I am “guilty” of being right and ahead of the curve when it came to Howard Stern and as to Grand Theft Auto. Because I took on Bar complainant, Al Cardenas, the Howard Stern Show is off terrestrial radio and his influence diminished." He continues saying "Because I took on this cop-killing, woman-bashing video game, the Presidential race is now addressing the issue and this particular video game… Try to get me disbarred. Go ahead, do your worst, Referee Tunis. I will continue to do my best."

If he is disbarred, he'll be prevented from applying to practice law for 10 years anywhere in the U.S.

Video Games Live, an event with top orchestras and choirs play some of gaming's best-known music, announced roughly 50 more dates to their tour roster. The schedule includes shows in Taiwan, Germany, Brazil, China, British, Columbia, France, Portugal, and more. This must be their way of celebrating their first sold-out Broadway show.

At the moment, this is just one of those superfluous internet rumors credited to "a reliable source" (Joystiq.com) But there certainly is reason to believe movie execs are looking into 2k's new IP as a movie adaptation.

"Digging through all the praise heaped upon Bioshock, you're sure to scrape your nails across several repeated phrases such as 'engaging,' 'gripping' and 'atmospheric.' Some have even said it's 'pretty good.' The most common one, however, is sure to be 'cinematic,' a term that places Bioshock and Hollywood in rather close proximity."

With the Halo movie not expected any time soon (maybe never), Bioshock would certainly give gaming fans something to cut their teeth on. Thinking about Big Daddies on the big screen actually makes me pretty excited as well. The movie would be scary, action-packed, and (provided they keep the plot on track) would actually have some relevant meaning to our lives and histories without having to dive into subjects like Iraq and the War on Terror.

That is something to be grateful for. Relevant fiction.

Anywho, I've sang enough praises for the game. What do you think? Is this something you would want to see in theaters?

The debate between the two systems has gotten out of hand. Spamming and obscene messages across gaming sites, social networking sites, bogging sites (you name it), in the name of one console or the other is almost unavoidable. The fact of the matter is that both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are impressive. Graphics, loading speed, sound, data size.. all of these aspects have been improved on immensely in the recent generational jumps from one console to the next.

That's not to say THIS generation isn't without it's downsides.

Xbox Live! still requires a fee to play on-line, but it's relatively low and to owners of the system it seems to be worth it (over 8 million users). And while the Playstation network is free, it hasn't caught up with Xbox Live! in terms of convenience and options.

I'm don't know how the CPU's and graphics processors compare specifically, but there is fantastic looking games on both systems and neither seems to be far ahead or behind the other. Xbox 360 boasts a lot more titles, though some have been ported to the PS3 with so-so results. Most of these ports don't run as well on the PS3 which could be because the Xbox 360 has better processors. But it's most likely that the games don't perform as well on the PS3 because they were originally optimized for the Xbox 360 from the ground up.

Price is also a concern, but not a big one. The top of the line 360's go for the same price as a PS3 and anyone who could duke out $350 for an Xbox 360 could probably afford $50 more for the PS3. This happened only recently though. Sony did have the PS3 starting at $599, because of which it got a lot of criticism. But, after polishing it's business model a little, it should be back on track to compete this holiday season.

Both systems have a multitude of features beyond game, including video, social networking, and digital goodies to download and enhance your personal experience. Although you'll have to look at what Xbox Live! and Playstation Network offer on their official websites to decide which is right for you.

Since the Xbox 360 was released so much earlier than the competing next-generation consoles, it boasts a much larger library of games. This makes choosing a winner obscenely difficult. The console focuses largely on adult-oriented games with foul language, violence, and situations little Billy just isn't ready for yet. With that in mind, I believe the best game for the Xbox 360 is one that takes a more adult approach to gaming. That's why my pick is Bioshock.
Not only does Bioshock contain creepy atmosphere, violent game play, and a plethora of choices about how you want to proceed, it also alludes renowned fiction and makes you feel for your "enemies." Bioshock presents Little Sisters (who harvest Adam, which is essential to life in Rapture, the sunken dystopian setting for the game) and gives you the choice of murdering them to gain all the Adam you can, or sparing them and taking what they will give as thanks. This is a huge moral dilemma, and it generates different results.
It's also fair to say the game looks outstanding. I know there has been a lot of coverage on the water effects, but it's not the only eye-candy. All the environments and characters are just as well-presented. Technically, the game was built on Epic's Unreal Engine 3, but it was heavily modified to create the breathtaking scenes in Rapture. And the events in Bioshock feel like the could have happened. There is a rich history that unfold as the game develops.
Despite criticism that the ending is too short, or the last boss is too easy, Bioshock provides around 20 hours of compelling game play. Once you get your ending, once you get your final boss battle, you feel like you earned it.

After a great birthday weekend (I turned 23), I got home and realized that the sweet new Xbox 360 I got had nothing but a sub-par comic-book game and Forza 2 to run on it. Don't get me wrong, these games probably have their rightful place in the multi-billion dollar video game industry, but for the life of me I just can't find it.
Anywho, after figuring out how to bridge my laptop wireless connection so I could connect to Xbox Live, I found the game demo section and had a demo shopping spree. I downloaded demos of Bioshock, Condemned, Rainbow Six: Vegas (I dig shooters)... and many more of the most violent, supposedly unhealthy games I could find.
Only time will tell if they turn me into a real-life murdering monster. But to help me figure it out and to soak up the maximum amount of ultra-violence as I could, I played all of them back-to-back for about 5 hours straight. I'm going to keep doing this every night for the next week, and I'll report my findings. My money's on slightly irritable and maybe some red eyes.
