How Important Is A Love Story In A Movie?
So I've been bouncing ideas off of my co-workers relating to my script. The story involves 3 college friends who meet up for a little bit of a wild weekend and run into some trouble with some dangerous people.
Initially, I had one of these guys being in a relationship, only acknowledging the girlfriend character through shot stints of him talking to her on the phone - since she wasn't a part of the story. She was meant to be a sign that this character is a reliable, mostly responsible guy who can maintain a relationship like that. But it didn't really come through like I'd hoped and seemed to be a detriment to the narrative.
I had another idea about one of the other characters trying to get the attention of a girl from his church (he's the responsible force in the movie now, and likes good girls). But, after writing some ideas and some dialogue to develop that part of the story, it seems like a complete waste of time.
I want to pull at people's heart strings with this story (action/comedy), but I fear I may be trying too hard. Maybe I'll just axe the love story idea. To hell with it.

Excuses
A few months have gone by since I've made a post, and for this I apologize sincerely. We all have issues and distractions that take us away from our favorite hobbies. This blog is one of mine. So here's what I've been up to:
* I tried to join a branch of the armed forces, and was rejected due to some poor past decisions and some health issues.
* I got a new job working in a bakery (I know, sounds uneventful. But it's been surprisingly fun and rewarding).
* I've been writing a screenplay for some weeks now.
The latter is probably what this blog will focus on for the next couple of months at least. The story has been in my head since 2 summers ago and at the very least I can promise that it will be very funny. I'm determined to make it so.
Other than that, I hope you all had a fantastic holiday season and I'm stoked to start this new year. It's gonna be big.

New Vlog/Show in the Works
I've been trying to develop a show to make this blog more accessible and viewer-friendly by putting a lot of the stuff I find (sites, webtoys, news, etc.) into video and posting it at the top of the page. I'm going to try blip.tv because it's got the best options that I can find for video sharing and distributing. Then I can plant the player below my header and it should update and display my newest video every time I upload one. I hope it makes the blog more fun and accessible.
Anywho, I decided today that I need to stop worrying about what it's geared toward (I still have yet to find my niche), and just show the best things I run into. I wanted to put it into a more professional context with a logo (like the ridiculous one above) and theme music and blah blah blah, but for now it is what it is and I'll improve on it every chance I get. I'll try to keep it grounded with the look and feel of the blog, but I do want to try some new approaches and find out what works best. The first video will be up by tomorrow night. I hope you all enjoy it.
edit: It might take little longer than I thought. My video program is having a hard time exporting it all at once. I'm going to try and come up with a solution, but at the very latest, the vid will be up by tomorrow. Thanks for you patience.

Easy Read
Hi everyone. I'm testing out some changes with this page, trying out new templates and fiddling with them to make this blog more readable and accessible. I'm sorry if this will throw anyone off, but I realized that, as much as I like the aesthetics the way they were, they didn't make for a very comfortable reading experience.
I hope this will make things easier for all of you. If you have any suggestions or demands (that's right, demands), I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for your patience. The blog will remain fully functional, but it might be confusing for the next day or so, until I find a balance between look and readability.
Stay tuned!
